Tristan is the Co-Founder, Board Chair, and former CEO of the Conservative Nut. He has previously served as the President of the Tampa Bay Teenage Republicans, and is currently a Precinct Committeeman for the Hillsborough County Republican Party. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree at Columbia University
Tristan is a moderate Republican, and often times looks to Ronald Reagan and Dwight D. Eisenhower for inspiration. He believes that the ideals of having pride for one's country and preserving American values have made him politically and socially active, and has motivated him to one day pursue a career in business, law, or politics.
Opposing the stereotype of a minority body being "liberal", Tristan believes that his involvement in the political sphere allows him and The Conservative Nut to break down the stigma that has painted Republicans as "racist" and "ignorant". He believes that critical race theory and civil rights do not exist solely on a liberal narrative, but quite the opposite, voicing strongly the empowerment of people of color and other oppressed individuals by overcoming a state of victimhood that has engrained itself within civil society. Tristan also has experience reading, researching, and debating many forms of critical race theory, from the works of Frank B. Wilderson to Dr. C. Warren. He believes that by working with his peers and understanding the context in which the other side formulates their viewpoints, The Conservative Nut will contribute to one-day uniting the polarized political spectrum that has split the American people in the wake of the 2016 Presidential Election. As a minority, he has broken many barriers that have previously been untouched. Tristan is the first Chinese-American Eagle Scout of the Greater Tampa Bay Council, the youngest and first minority Senior Patrol Leader of his Boy Scout troop, and the first Chinese-American recipient of the West Point General H. Norman Schwarzkopf Leadership Award.
Though no longer managing the day to day operations of TCN, Tristan pursues many passions that keep him involved in politics. Aside from working with many politicians, Tristan is the captain of his school's policy debate team, where he has won a plethora honors, including awards from 1st Speaker at the Wake Forest Policy Debate Tournament, Finalist at the Georgetown Invitational, Semifinalist at the Harvard Invitational, and being ranked 20th in the country through National Debate Coach Association Baker Point ranking. Tristan is also a nationally ranked fencer that is both NAC qualified in both the United States Fencing Association and the British Fencing Association, representing the Tampa Fencing Academy and the Tonbridge School.
