OPINION: Liberal Irony

It’s ironic how liberals love to preach about the ideal of tolerance, yet don’t practice it themselves. After all, what is tolerance, and what can be tolerated?

This article closely relates to the previous article about freedom of speech. What can and what cannot be said is dependent upon what one believes. For example, if I was a liberal, saying something like “All lives matter” or “I am pro-life” would be unacceptable. Something more acceptable, from the point of view of a liberal, is “The second amendment is for shooting tyrants” on the subject of the recent assassination attempt on Steve Scalise. And yes, this was said on a Facebook post of a prominent figure in the policy debate community: A forum that claims to foster development in the liberal arts but is merely just a fascist activity that brainwashes people into thinking that they are making contributions to the world.

Why must we tolerate eight years of Barack Obama when liberals could not tolerate six months of Donald Trump? Do not give me the civil rights lecture because name one thing that the President did that violated civil rights. He explicitly said on “sixty minutes” after his election that Obergfell vs Hodges would hold. Gay Marriage in this country is the law of the land, something the president recognizes. Why, then, do liberals go around crying about how President Trump oppresses gay people when frankly, he doesn’t care about issues concerning gay people. It’s not an issue on his agenda.

So explain to me, how is the election of President Trump “intolerance” to gay people when Trump explicitly said that he didn’t care about issues concerning Gay people? How is voting against Hillary Clinton “Intolerance” towards women, when looking at the facts, Trump was the better candidate? And it’s funny, how is saying a representative deserving of his attempted assassination, which, by the way, was committed by a Liberal against Trump, not intolerance? Liberals like to throw around these big words, but words are just series of letters until you give them meaning. And just like words such as “racism” and “misogyny,” liberals completely removed the meaning from the word “tolerance.”
